Biography

Leonie Maréchal (Eindhoven )
Leonie Maréchal was born in the city center of Eindhoven and grew up in Drentsdorp 'under the smoke of Philips'. From an early age, painting and drawing has always been part of her life, where love for art and nature at home is self-evident and for her a way to connect her 'inside and outside world' while painting. After an art education at the Academy for Visual Arts in Belgium, her visual language is mainly about nature and the world around her, which she elaborates in a quiet and expressive way. She goes her own way and intuitively works directly on linen or paper with acryl, oil paint, charcoal and uses the spatula, brush and her hands.
From home she has acquired the feeling for the religious, which is best for her in nature. She paints landscapes with a beautifull color palette, looking for structures, expressiveness, the deserted, sometimes desolate landscape, the play of light contrasts and graphic lines of trees and organic forms with perhaps a romantic touch.

Of Leonie, I mainly remember a driven search. A search for a way to shape content or shape content. A search also to have her painting balanced between reason and intuition. I think she has found her balance in this. P.Dierckx teacher art academy

Art does not want to solve secrets: No. Art wants to create secrets and this is a wonderful example of this. So mysterious, but not aloof. Rather close and palpable. It's great when you can make secrets tangible. (A little). It doesn't say what it says, but it has always existed and you show it.
